Apple iPhone boosts AT&T sales, hurts profit
AT&T’s third-quarter profit rose about 5 percent as sales of the new Apple iPhone 3G fueled strong gains in the wireless segment, the telecommunications giant said Wednesday. But subsidies AT&T pays on those iPhones played a huge role in the company missing Wall Street’s earnings target. (T)
